I am an Accredited Member of BACP www.bacp.co.uk which is the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.  I am fully insured to practise as a Counsellor and abide by the BACP strict code of ethics and conduct.

Experience & Background

I worked in the NHS for over 22 years, the last 13 years as the Diabetes Services Co-ordinator. During this time I gained valuable experience working with both health professionals and the general public.   I began training as a Counsellor in 2008 and  graduated with a COSCA Diploma in Counselling in 2011 and have been working as a therapist since then. In 2016 I qualified as an Accredited Counsellor with BACP which is a quality standard for the experienced practitioner who can demonstrate high standards of ethical and competent standards.   I continue to keep my professional development up to date and  some of the workshops and courses I have completed include:

Introduction to CBT approaches for Anxiety & Depression
Working with Self Harm
Working with Long Term Conditions
Understanding Loss, Grief and Bereavement
Understanding the Dynamics of Domestic Abuse
Motivational Interviewing for change
Child Protection level 1 and 2
PTSD and Trauma Workshop
Mental Health First Aid - Young People
Bowlby's Attachment Theory & Lifelong Relationships
Working Safely with Trauma

High Control Groups & Relationships
Healing the fragmented selves of Trauma Survivors - Dr Janina  Fisher

I am passionate about counselling and believe it can help you find solutions to your difficulties and problems.  I work in an integrative way.  This means that I have training in different theoretical approaches and work in different ways depending on the client.  Everyone is an individual  and one way of working does not necessarily suit everyone.   I do not believe "one size fits all" in counselling and therefore sessions will be tailored to suit  you.
